'You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems' says James Clear in his best seller, Atomic Habits.
We think that's true for individuals, for companies, and for Insight teams.
We spend a lot of time at Insight forums talking about the purpose of Insight and the importance of demonstrating an ambition for how much value it can add to your organisation.
Without this high-level ambition, we will never develop more specific aspirations for transforming the impact of Insight.
But if senior leaders don't also establish systems for capturing best practice, and sharing them with new and existing colleagues, the team will never deliver to a consistent standard, nor incorporate the behaviour changes required for sustainable Insight transformation.
And the leaders will be trapped, either forced to spend a large proportion of every week doing their own research and analysis, or turn themselves into full-time supervisers of other people's work.
So the 7th P of the Insight leader's playbook, will be Process.
It might not sound exciting, but the way we approach it is often the difference between a productive, effective, efficient and successful Insight team, and a team that is doing its best to survive another spin around the corporate hamster wheel.

If you'd like to learn more, and see how other Insight leaders are approaching this topic, please register for a place at the 11th Sept online Insight forum.
It will start at 3pm UK time (10am in New York) and run for 90 minutes, and include short presentations from James Wycherley and Jane Woolley, break out rooms, plenary discussions and our popular ask the network segment where you can raise any challenge affecting your Insight team. As usual, the forum will be for Insight leaders and senior managers in corporate Insight teams - sorry, no suppliers, but if you work in an agency please feel free to share this with your favourite clients.
We hope to see you soon!
